Mission

FuelCellEurope was formed in response to concerns that Europe would not be ready for the commercial introduction of fuel cells in the same time frame as other regions of the world such as North America and Japan. The fear was that without a competitive fuel cell industry, Europe would be at a serious competitiveness disadvantage economically and environmentally.

Since its formation, FuelCellEurope has continuously strived to achieve its mission, which is
accelerating the development and market uptake of fuel cells technologies in Europe.

In 2008, FuelCellEurope conducted a strategic review and consulted its members, to prioritize the association's activities and plan next steps for the 2009-2012 period.

As an outcome, the following three strategic objectives have been defined for the 2009-2012 period

Position fuel cells as a key technology solution for a sustainable European system

Stimulate the market demand and connect it with fuel cell suppliers

Obtain a more favourable regulatory environment for fuel cells in Europe

In addition to these priorities, FuelCellEurope is strongly committed to:

Enhancing  cooperation and business opportunities among its members
Acting as gateway between the fuel cells community and European policy makers
Communicating and facilitating information exchange on fuel cell research, development and operating experiences

To achieve the objectives, FuelCellEurope has put in place a streamlined programme for 2009-2012.
