Funding opportunities

Certain fuel cells technologies or applications still need to overcome some technical barriers before mass market penetration and therefore require sufficient and ambitious financing support to cover the RTD costs. This existing market failure barriers can be overcome with public funding opportunitities made available at the European level, national, regional or local.

Funding opportunities represent the following advantages:

Enhanced success of the projects and economies of scale thanks to the conjunction of public and private funds;

Leveraged investement and risk sharing facilities between public and private actors, as the current investment risks remain high.

Identifying funding opportunities for fuel cells manufacturers is a crucial determinant to the smooth development of the technologies.
That is why FuelCellEurope puts a strong emphasis on funding opportunities for its Members by monitoring potential funds, identifying new funding opportunities and promptly alerting its Members.

The paragraph below illustrates the main funding opportunities at EU level for fuel cell technologies development, demonstration and deployment.

Please keep in mind that many other opportunities exist at the national, regional or local levels.
